How to use the chart
The chart shows the price of one gram of pure gold in the currency you have chosen at the top of the page. Choose a period in the button row above the curve — from one day to the full available history. Below the curve you get the period's lowest and highest price, the average, and a measure of the fluctuations.
Intraday or daily prices
For 1 day and 7 days we plot every five minutes, so you can see the small movements throughout the trading day. For longer periods we use one price per day, which gives a calmer picture of the trend.
The dashed line
The horizontal dashed line is the average price for the period. If the rate is above it, gold is trading more expensively than the period average — a quick benchmark if you're considering buying or selling.
